Intel’s Battlemage GPU line, including the budget-friendly Arc B580 and B570, is geared toward entry-level gamers seeking a balance between performance and affordability. The Intel Battlemage GPUs boast a performance uplift, claiming to be 24% faster than the previous generation Arc A750 GPU. A standout feature of the Battlemage line is its memory configuration. The high-end model offers 12 GB of memory, surpassing the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060’s 8 GB, making it an appealing choice for gamers and content creators who demand more memory capacity for multitasking and modern gaming workloads. This emphasis on memory gives Intel a potential edge in the budget and mid-range GPU market.
The Intel Arc B580 is set to be a formidable contender in the budget GPU market, featuring advanced specifications that cater to performance-focused entry-level gamers. The card is equipped with 20 Xe2 cores, leveraging a graphics architecture inspired by Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs. It includes five render slices, 20 ray tracing units, and operates at an impressive clock speed of 2.67 GHz. Additionally, the B580 boasts a memory bandwidth of 456 GB/s, ensuring smooth performance in demanding scenarios, and has a power consumption of 190 W, balancing power efficiency with robust performance.
Intel Arc B580 and B570: Redefining Entry-Level GPU Performance
The Limited Edition model from Intel features a PCIe 4.0 x8 interface, ensuring compatibility with older PC systems without requiring an upgrade to PCIe 5.0. Additionally, it is equipped with a single 8-pin power connector for streamlined setup and power management.
Intel has positioned its latest Arc B580 graphics card to compete against the NVIDIA RTX 4060 and AMD RX 7600, both of which were launched in the spring of 2023. However, Intel’s focus is on offering superior performance per dollar. With a starting price of $250, Intel asserts that the Arc B580 delivers better ray tracing performance compared to the mid-range options from both AMD (Team Red) and NVIDIA (Team Green).
Intel’s gaming benchmarks present an intriguing picture. According to Team Blue, the Arc B580 outperforms the RTX 4060 by around 10%, which translates to roughly 15 more frames per second in titles like Control. In demanding games such as Hogwarts Legacy and Cyberpunk 2077, this performance boost could push frame rates above 60 FPS, surpassing the performance of the popular RTX 4060.

However, the Intel Arc B580 doesn’t always come out on top. Intel’s benchmarks reveal that the NVIDIA RTX 4060 still maintains a performance advantage in certain titles, such as Gears of War 5 and Counter-Strike 2. These comparisons were made on a high-end PC setup featuring an Intel Core i9-14900K CPU, showing that while the Arc B580 excels in some games, the RTX 4060 holds its ground in others.
The Intel Arc A750 launched at just under $300, making the price of the B580 even more appealing in comparison. However, while Intel’s price positioning looks competitive, benchmark tests directly comparing AMD and Intel’s offerings are still awaited. It will be interesting to see how the B580 stacks up against AMD’s alternatives once the reviews come in.
The Intel Arc B580, the most impressive model in the lineup, will be available starting December 13 for $249. Meanwhile, the Intel Arc B570, priced at $220, won’t be released until January 16. While it’s wise to proceed with caution until reviews are in, it’s always a positive development to see new graphics cards entering the market, offering more choices for consumers.
