WhatsApp users can remove the Meta AI circle by reaching out to support via the Help Center. At present, this is the only available way to disable the assistant.
WhatsApp users across Europe have recently encountered an unexpected addition to their app: the blue Meta AI circle. Although Meta promotes it as a helpful assistant powered by Llama 3.2, many users consider it intrusive—particularly when it disrupts the visual flow of neatly organized home screens. While the option to remove it isn’t immediately apparent, there is a way to do it.
The Only Current Way to Request Meta AI Removal
At present, the only reliable way to remove Meta AI is by contacting WhatsApp support directly. While Meta AI may hint at a simple toggle under profile settings, this option is missing in most app versions. Instead, users need to go through the app’s Help section to initiate the process.
Here’s how to request the removal of Meta AI from WhatsApp:
- Tap your WhatsApp profile icon
- Scroll down and select “Help”, then tap “Help Center”
- Scroll to the bottom and choose “Contact support”
- Write a message requesting the removal of Meta AI (using English is recommended for a quicker response)
- Send the request via email when prompted
While there’s no guarantee of immediate removal, this is currently the only available method to formally request it.
How to clear or export the Meta AI chat
For users who don’t mind having Meta AI around but prefer a cleaner interface, it’s easy to manage the chat. Simply tap the Meta AI icon, then tap its profile picture to access options—where you can export, clear, or mark the conversation as a favourite.
- Open the Meta AI chat in WhatsApp
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner
- Select “More”, then choose “Export chat”
- Decide whether to include media files or not
- Choose your preferred method to share or save the exported chat (e.g., email, cloud storage)
The exported chat will be saved as a .txt
file. If you wish to convert it to a PDF, you can open the text file in a word processor like Microsoft Word or Google Docs and save or print it as a PDF.
While Meta may bring back the blue circle in future updates, this method provides a temporary fix for those who value visual consistency and more control over their app’s appearance.
